Testimonials

“One-day Yosemite Tour”
I was so impressed with our tour guide. He fit in as much as we could see and hike in one full day as was possible. He was so knowledgable about the area which made the day even more interesting. His dynamic personality and knowledge about his local rock climbing and free-lining experiences made our tour even more fun. I would highly recommend using this company to get the most out of your Yosemite experience.

“Two great days of touring”
Yosemite cover a large expanse: it would be difficult to know where to start touring and how much to expect to see without a guide. Our Guide made effective use of our limited time by picking vistas that are accessible from the road as well as places that required a short hike. He gauged our hiking ability so that we were comfortably challenged. He is knowledgeable about the Park, in large measure based on his personal experience. We enjoyed all of our time with him, learned a great deal and would be happy to have him guide us on a future trip to Yosemite.

“YAG is the best!!!”
I booked a fly fishing trip with my good friend. We had an amazing time with our guide David. He taught us the basics of fly fishing (we were both first timers) and was so patient and fun to learn from. In addition to teaching us the basics (which he was clearly great at since we caught 3 fish during our half day trip!) he taught us about the area and history of Yosemite. As a bonus he sent us pics of the fish we caught!
I cannot say enough about how great of an experience it was and definitely recommend YFA to anyone interested in an adventure!

“Amazing job!”
This company did an amazing job of making our trip to Yosemite spectacular. The majority of our group(18 people) was Chinese speaking only. Even with the language barriers and cultural differences, they did so much to accommodate us. Both of our guides were very down to earth, very easy to deal with, extremely humble, and just overall nice guys. I don't plan on this being my last trip to Yosemite. The next time I take a group again, we will definitely be using the same outfit. Don't give a second thought to using this company .

“Best Private One Day Tour Ever!”
What a wonderful private tour! We spend a full day enjoying Yosemite National Park with Yosemite Adventure Guides! Our guide was extremely knowledgable and his relaxed personality made him feel like part of the family! We got to see the Giant Sequoias, Yosemite Falls and much, much more during our one day visit. My son got a little tired because he wasn't feeling good that day and I will never forget that Trent actually carried him up the trail for almost a mile on his shoulders! Just enough to get him feeling better! These guys will do anything they can to make sure you have a first class experience, from start to finish!

I've now learned that you need more than one day to experience this park, but if you only have one day, you must spend it with Yosemite Adventure Guides! They will go above and beyond your needs in order to make sure you have a memorable experience!

We will be back one day and I'll be giving them a call for sure!

Thanks again Trent!

“World-class tour guide”
I planned weeks for my father-son vacation in Yosemite before I left to start a new job in another state. As anyone knows, you could spend a month in Yosemite and still have more left to see and do. Yosemite Adventure Guides helped me from day 1 with the planning and execution of my trip. They worked with me to customize my experiences to make the most out of my short time there. Their expertise of all things Yosemite and the personal touch they showed me and my father would absolutely lead me to use their services again.

I suggest everyone to give them a call and hear what they can offer. You would be in good hands if you did.

“Best tour we took at Yosemite”
Our guide's knowledge and understanding of Yosemite was terrific. He tailored our tour to what we were interested in and fulfilled our wish list. We hope they expand into Yellowstone for our visit there!

“Best Birthday Gift Ever!”
My wife surprised me with a trip to Yosemite for my birthday. Our second day there we met up with our guide David and fly fished the Merced, hiked the Glacier Point Trail (where we ate lunch), and the Sentinel Dome Trail. We finished the day off by going fishing again for the afternoon bite. David taught my wife to fly fish in no time, and we caught some nice fish as well. The hikes were epic and Davids knowledgable history of the park and breathtaking views were very memorable. The best part was how personable and friendly David was. It really made the whole trip. I would highly recommend Yosemite Adventure Guides to any one looking to get away. It's great for couples, groups, or even coworkers looking for team building. Be warned though, its a FULL day of fun! You defiantly get your moneys worth and then some here.

“Stargazing with YAG”
Booked a family group star gazing night with YAG, we met at Glacier Point in Yosemite, but some unforeseen circumstances meant we couldn't stay up at Glacier Point to see the stars. But David did his best in finding another place to see as much as we could, and it was great! All the family (12 of us all ages) enjoyed the evening, our guide was knowledgeable and informative, and knew his stuff, and had a lot of patience with all our questions.

“Amazing experience, with superb guides”
As a group of 5 families (22 people), with varying interests and ages, our guides were superb – informative, educational, funny, interested, talented, helpful and truly expert. In fact as part of our two day tours they felt like part of our group – if a little more knowledgeable. They were even helping others outside our group to learn more along the way, young and old, which we thought was really great.

If you're ever in Yosemite, and have the good fortune to be guided by them, our advice would be to simply explain what it is you love, what you can handle, how much walking you'd want, what views – and hand it over to them for the full bespoke service. They won't let you down.

Thanks again Yosemite Adventure Guides. Truly great experience that was made all the better by your involvement.

“Fantastic experience!”
We planned a family trip to Yosemite in late July and booked a full day with David at Yosemite Adventure Guides. The circumstances were complicated by the fire in the park, but David took us to fantastic spots far away from Mother Nature’s wrath. We met with David at our lodge the evening before our first day and went over the plan for the following morning. The day was split between gold panning and fly fishing. Just a recommendation - get your California fishing licenses and print them out in advance to avoid problems once you reach your vacation lodging. The internet is known to be unreliable in the area around the park. David will provide you with anything else you need.

Gold panning was a fun experience and a great way to start your morning. David drove my wife, me, and our two teenage boys to a spot not far from where we were staying. We then hiked a short distance to a beautiful spot along the bank of a gentle flowing river. Despite being as careful as possible, my wife slipped while crossing some rocks and got both hiking boots submerged and soaked inside. She wasn't hurt, but I was afraid this might spell disaster for the remainder of the day, as she didn't have an extra pair of socks. Not to worry though, David chivalrously took off his own shoes and socks and offered them to her. He put on a pair of knee-high rubber boots he had brought along in his pack. My germ-a-phobe wife gratefully put on the dry footwear (to my surprise) while her socks and boots dried in the sun. We made our way to a nice panning spot along the river and David gave us some quick instructions on panning. He went over some history of the gold rush in California and talked a little about how to locate a mining spot with good potential. This activity does require you to get a little wet, but not soaked. It's not terribly strenuous, and would be good for any age. After an hour or so of panning, we had concentrated all the pay-dirt down to a pan full of black sand - perfect for finding gold. We had all learned pretty well how to pan, but we let David take it from here. He panned the concentrate, and with his help we managed to come up with a small amount of gold to take home! - thanks again David ;-)

After lunch it was time for some fly-fishing. David drove us to a real honey-hole inside the park (Yes, actually in Yosemite) with a beautiful river but few people. Actually, there was not a person in site along the river while we were fishing – a real rarity in such a heavy tourist spot. There was a short hike along a dirt road to get to the river, maybe half a mile if I remember. We all had a little experience fishing, which did make the instruction easier, but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this trip to a complete novice. To find the best places to fish, we all spread out along the riverbank. I had to make my way through some fairly dense brush along the riverbank in certain spots, and there were some spots that required a little boulder-hopping - but it is well worth it. In no time we were tossing flies. David stayed with my boys, coming back to check on my wife and I occasionally. After a couple hours, 3 out of the 4 of us had caught trout. I put down the rod several times that afternoon to just hike along the bank and explore the pristine surroundings. At the end of the day, we all sat down in a comfy spot along the bank, ate a sack dinner, and traded fish tales about who caught the biggest fish and the ones that got away.

A special note about our guide – David is owner and operator of Yosemite Adventure Guides and he takes great pride in his work. My wife literally walked a mile in his shoes. Well, maybe not a mile but a fair distance. He was happy to make last minute changes to our schedule to accommodate us. For instance, we had scheduled an evening of stargazing but cloudy conditions limited visibility so instead he gave us extra time with the fishing poles. David does not take shortcuts when it comes to his customers. He could have taken us to a lake on private land stocked with trout and I’m sure we would have all caught fish. But instead, David is more concerned with the full experience than the fish count. The hiking, site seeing, and knowledge David shared with us along the way were just as memorable and important to us as catching fish or finding gold. We didn’t come to Yosemite because it was the last point in our list of destinations – we came to have a once in a lifetime experience. That’s what David gave us.
